Surge is currently accepting applications for a full time Land Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Mineral Land & Contracts, the successful candidate will be accountable for the day-to-day mineral and contract administration. This includes the review/audit and input into CS Land of mineral leases as well as land contracts and their respective obligations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Crown Lease administration, prepare and submit land sale postings and bids,
  • Freehold Lease administration, registering/discharging of caveats, paying bonus/lump sum consideration.
  • Review mineral lease rentals and provide payment recommendations.
  • Expiry and Continuations, obtaining team recommendations, submitting continuation packages, terminating leases, notifying third parties.
  • Land system entry of minerals, contracts, and wells for the area and updates as required.
  • Draft and manage Production Allocation Agreements,
  • Create, review, and approval of operated and non-operated AFE’s.
  • RTD (request to Drill) reviews, lease review, populate land data in Execute, entering well into CS
  • Draft, track, and respond to Abandonment, Independent Operations Notices, drilling commitments, payouts, penalties and other similar types of Notices.
  • Review and process third party NOA’s, assignments and other ancillary documents.
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding contract terms, mineral lease terms, and royalty obligations.
  • Draft and/or, review new contracts in conjunction with Area Negotiators and Manager
  • Assist with corporate and/or asset acquisitions and divestitures as required (including, but not limited to drafting conveyance documents, caveat transfers, crown transfers and any other required sale documentation for both minerals and contracts)
  • Participate in department projects, data integrity activities and process/procedure improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Mineral Land and/or Contracts experience is an asset; open to any level of experience.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and procedures and be adaptable to change.
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan and/or Alberta Provincial rules and regulations as they relate to mineral lands and well operations would be an asset.
  • Acute attention to detail while maintaining a high level of efficiency.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with CS Land, ISC, IRIS, GeoScout, Execute and StackDX is a strong asset.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
