Surge Energy is in its second year of a multi-year commitment to STARS, designated to support critical operations and lifesaving missions across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Since 2012, Surge Energy has generously donated $409,600 towards STARS operations across Western Canada. This support has made it possible for STARS to stand at the forefront of critical care by allowing us to invest in new technologies, equipment and advanced specialized training for our crew.

Any one of us can experience a life-changing incident or medical complication whether or not we’re close to care. That’s why STARS exists, and that is why Surge Energy chooses to support us. Surge Energy has been committed to making an impact and helping to deliver critical care, anywhere for the residents of their communities, ensuring every one of them has access to care when they need it the most.

Surge Energy’s funding has supported a range of impactful activities including:

  • Lifesaving equipment like, the Lucas Automated CPR machine, Winter Patient Stretcher Pack, IV Warmers and more. Mission related operations – specifically funding two missions per year, one in
each province of Alberta and Saskatchewan, directly impacting patients in need of critical care. In the past year alone, STARS flew 3,694 missions throughout Western Canada. Thanks to allies like Surge Energy, those patients were given a second chance.
  • STARS’ Emergency Link Centre (ELC) – Vigilant Services (industry emergency communications centre) has facilitated approximately 90,000 work alone events during the last fiscal year.
  • STARS ELC has gone from paper mapping and handwriting records to using custom-built geographic information system (GIS) maps to more precisely pinpoint mission locations and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software that securely and accurately tracks mission information. Importantly, these advancements help accurately pinpoint the location of our patients.
  • A multi-province study that investigates how STARS Virtual Care influences patient care and transport.

Forty years ago, STARS began as a visionary solution to a critical challenge. People living in rural and remote areas faced long delays in accessing emergency health care when they needed it most. STARS has grown into a trusted lifeline, bringing timely, expert life-saving care, all because of allies like Surge Energy. Thank you for championing STARS as a partner in safety for industry, community, employees, and families. With you by our side, we have thrived with passion, perseverance and the belief that the next patient is never too far. THANK YOU SURGE ENERGY!
