Surge is currently accepting applications for the position Operations Accountant.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Accountable for administering and maintaining data integrity for Master Data within Qbyte FM, Execute and OpenInvoice
  • Collaborate and support implementation of additional software systems relevant to Accounting Dept
  • Prepare, review, and record annual AER Admin Fees, Orphan Levy, Freehold Mineral Tax, and Property Taxes
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly reporting and analysis of operational results including detailed variance reviews
  • Regular review and updates of Allocation cost centers
  • Assist with internal & external audits by collecting and providing data
  • Preparation of Payout statements
  • Assist JV Accounting team with review and recording of JIBs and non-operated royalties, as well as investigating and resolving partner queries
  • Prepare and record any necessary adjusting entries
  • Other duties and projects as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of equivalent experience in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Diploma in Accounting or relevant required
  • Working towards designation or currently hold CPA designation
  • Strong working experience with IFS Platform (Qbyte FM, Optix, CS Land), Execute and Energylink
  • Has the ability to think critically and quickly adapt to a dynamic and changing environment
  • Is detail orientated and can effectively communicate with multiple departments
  • Is analytical and always looking for ways to improve processes
  • Previous experience working in Joint Venture Accounting is an asset
